Satinwood Burl and Tambootie Sickle Cane

$400.00

This hand crafted walking cane is made from stunning Satinwood Burl in my "Sickle" shape. Satinwood burl is rich in details and intricacies that are mesmerizing to look at! The "burl eyes" are almost like pin pricks they are so small and numerous, the chatoyance in this wood is also very nice. The divider between the handle and shaft consists of a few pieces of ancient wood an bone. The center piece between the brass layers is Steller's sea cow bone, and the other two layers on the outsides are New Zealand ancient Kauri.

The shaft is Tambootie wood from Africa. Aside form having a very fun name, this wood is actually one of the most toxic woods. Tts smoke from burning, or sawdust from working it can cause serious allergic reactions and even blindness and sever stomach problems. A gentleman from South Africa told me once that if a meal was cooked over a fire with Tambootie wood the food could kill you! All that to be said its perfectly safe as a cane, so no need to worry, Tambootie is a handsome wood with great density and strength and a nice grain. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit
