Dragon's Blood, Rosewood, and Padauk Cane

$1,200.00

This heirloom quality cane is a rare opportunity to own an amazing wood called "dragon's blood". This species is extremely rare, but burl wood is much rarer even still. It's a chatoyant burl with a shimmery grain, a rich quality that can't be captured in images. The burl is laminated onto two thin layers of Nigerian ebony with a vibrant red/orange center of Mexican Cocobolo, a favorite rosewood species. The laminated handle adds strength and is eye-catching. The shaft is vibrant red padauk wood from Africa and its highly chatoyant, a wonderful piece. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.

Dragon's blood burl wood also has a unique semi-transparent feature. If one puts their finger over the end of a flashlight, the light will make the flesh of the finger glow. Similarly the dragon's blood burl can glow in certain light conditions, particularly at the edges where light can shine through the wood.

The last image is of a Dragon's Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari).
