The Bronze Cuckoo

$2,000.00

An exquisite addition to the feather collection, this piece is Tasmanian blackwood in three different varieties. The large, decorative handle with flowing wings is carved out of quilted, crotch blackwood from a root buttress, it was actually dog out of the ground and it's large quilts formed because the growing wood was compressed under the weight of the whole tree. The divider is tight curl figured blackwood. Finally the shaft is ancient blackwood that was excavated from underneath a bog. My connection in Tasmanian dragged the log out of the bog with chains and his Toyota Land Cruiser. The wood is likely thousands of years old. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
