Jade and Tulipwood Cane
Jade and Tulipwood Cane
An heirloom lapidary cane with a stone handle that I’ve hand carved out of solid jade. Jade is a precious stone, one that is highly revered in many cultures around the world. Chinese culture elevates jade as sacred and more precious than gold. It is usually a shade of green and has transparent qualities in bright light; the light enters into the stone and makes it glow from within. This particular piece has a lovely light green color and fine transparency. The divider is warm copper than leads into a colorful Brazilian tulipwood shaft. Tulipwood is a special and rare rosewood that has a lovely array of pinks, reds, and beiges in its grain. The jade handle is full sized; equal in size to its Gillis Canes wooden counterparts. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
This is a functional cane with the same construction method as all the rest, I made this cane to be a stylish walking aid, not a decoration. But I recommend using it as a special occasion walking aid, it should not be dropped at the risk of breaking the jade. Jade is a remarkably durable and strong stone but a fall to concrete might crack the jade. A wrist strap would be a wise addition to this cane during use.
