Ancient Stick in Oak Woods

$800.00

Sleek and sturdy, this walking stick has an ancient Ukrainian Bog Oak handle. It is approximately 5000 years old! The wood was preserved under water until the tree was found by ancient wood hunters, dried, and sawn into usable material. When a tree falls under water, like in a bog, the wood doesn't decay normally because its an oxygen deprived environment. The wood simply absorbs minerals from its surroundings and the result after thousands of years is its dark color. 5000 years is very old for "workable wood" but the lapidary inlay on top of the stick is Millions of years old, its petrified wood from Utah. A birdseye rosewood divider pulls the reds out of the petrified wood. A brass ferrule with rubber tip finishes the bottom for a total length of 38" and it not adjustable on account of the ferrule. This stick would make a comfortable and sturdy companion.
