Greene and Greene Cane Stand
Greene and Greene Cane Stand
This stand is a wonderful way of displaying a cane collection! It has 16 individual cane spots, but more can be added for an even fuller look. The style of the piece is authentic arts and crafts "Greene and Greene" using figured old growth Brazilian mahogany, African ebony square tenon pins, and style appropriate curvatures. Its concept is open and airy, which provides great visibility for the cane collection within. To complete the stand, it has a period appropriate hand rubber oil finish for a smooth luster look that is a pleasure to touch.
"I needed a new cane stand due to Shawn Gillis making so many irresistible canes that I filled the first one he made for me. I wanted one for my library – a place of red oak bookshelves and a tatajuba floor. Shawn suggested a Greene & Greene style stand made from old growth Brazilian mahogany which he had a stash of. The result is a fine piece of furniture that is simultaneously a splendid work of art. It is a piece that will play a significant part in placing Shawn in the pantheon of the finest woodworkers and furniture makers."
