Sinker Cypress Cookie Stand
Sinker Cypress Cookie Stand
This one of a kind cane stand features a live edge “cookie” top of sinker cypress wood. In wood working jargon, a “cookie” is a round cut out of a log that shows the tree’s growth rings and maintains the tree’s natural outside edge of bark. This cypress wood is from Louisiana and it is several hundred years old. So not quite “ancient” but still very old. Its “sinker” cypress because the tree fell into a swamp, where it lay for a long time before being found and recovered.
The bottom of the stand is Sapele wood, a mahogany-like species from Africa. The bottom recesses are lined with sage-green leather. The stand’s top is connected to the post with a visible joint that has a lignum wood spline (top center). Designed to hold 6 pieces safely and comfortably.
It measures 13” maximum diameter and 28” tall.
