Gillis Collaboration Cane
Gillis Collaboration Cane
This cane was mostly made by my 9 year old son. The Gillis family will soon have its next generation of cane-makers! The handle is bignay burl from Indonesia with an attractive sapwood/heartwood color contrast and beautiful burl grain patterns. The shaft is African mahogany wood and the divider is Afzelia with copper and thin ebony. A light weight and nimble feeling cane, easily carried on long days, but still solid and supportive. It measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
My son designed, drilled holes, assembled, shaped, sanded, and finished (natural oil and bees wax) this cane. I cut out the components on the power tools for him, photographed the finished cane and made this web listing. 100% of the proceeds for the sale of this cane go to his saving account.
