Red Mallee Cane

$500.00

A gorgeous, colorful cane! A piece like this is sure to make anyone fall in love with the beauty and variety found in exotic woods. The handle is red Mallee burl from Australia, along the top is blonde sapwood creating a wonderful contrast and interest in the grain. Its set over a shaft of red cabbage bark wood from Suriname, South America. It has a course, decorative grain very much like a reddish version of wenge wood. I don’t know how common or uncommon the tree is in its native range, but its rarely imported/exported and thus quite unique. The divider is copper metal and rosewood from Brazil.

A medium weight cane that could be used by most anyone. Only recommended for bearing weight directly over the shaft, as opposed to over the arch or back of the handle; daily use functional bearing this in mind. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
