Tulipwood Curl Cane
Tulipwood Curl Cane
This heirloom quality curl cane is handcrafted using exquisite and rare Tulipwood from Brazil. Tulipwood is a vibrant member of the rosewood family of trees, and is highly sought after for its amazing colors and grain. Its very challenging to fined Tulipwood these days, this piece is several decades old and came from the personal collection of a retired furniture maker. Tulipwood’s grain is intricate, chatoyant, shimmery, and has red, oranges, pinks, peachy, and creamy colors. The full spectrum and beauty my camera fails to capture fully. The divider is another rare and special wood from S. Africa called “pink ivory”, and its very pink! Its accompanied by warm copper metal. Finally the shaft is figured Narra wood, quite a chatoyant wood as well with a fine “bees wings” figure that doesn’t come through in many of the pictures - only a couple. Narra is the tree that produces “Amboyna burl”. This is a fully functional and comfortable cane, could be used daily by most anyone. Weight is average, it feels sturdy and solid without being too heavy for most users. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
