"Seeing Stars"
"Seeing Stars"
“Seeing Stars” is art as a cane, taking this piece for a walk is like driving the finest luxury car around town. Its handle is “once in a lifetime wood”. All ebony is rare but this is Mun ebony, protected and critically endangered, its one of the rarest ebony species. This example is the finest Mun ebony with wildly figured grain, brown and blacks swirled together forming an attractive marble-like effect.
The ends of the handle are pieces from outer space! It’s meteorite officially named: NWA 15203. with a classification of: Ordinary chondrite (H3). This remarkable piece is very dark stone with many sparkly flecks of iron throughout - which gave this piece its name because it resembles from whence it came. It was originally found in 2021 in Northwest Africa, it became an official meteorite in 2022. Its fall to earth was not observed so its stay on earth could be anywhere from a few years, to millions of years.
In the divider are layers of bright German silver and a center of oxen horn with slight translucence in bright light. This leads into a vibrant Cocobolo rosewood shaft that’s full of different red, oranges and yellow colors with some black line figure. Cocobolo is easily one of the most attractive rosewoods and highly sought after. This Mexican Cocobolo is some of the best and its been in storage in the USA since the 1980’s.
Cane weight is medium so most anyone could use it and enjoy it. It has respectable heft and feel, like a quality product made out of dense hardwoods. It’s fully functional but probably best to consider such a cane for special occasion use. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
