"Space Iron"

$2,750.00

“Space Iron” Iron from space meet ironwood - what a match! A magnificent cane for lovers of exotic woods featuring an extra unique kind of meteorite. The handle is my personal favorite wood, its Sonoran desert ironwood burl from Arizona. This wood is extremely dense and durable making it a fine choice for functional implements, but its also very beautiful with a chatoyant, shimmery grain, and in this example very rare burl figured grain.

On the ends of the handle are two pieces of the “Admire Meteorite” which is pallasite meteorite, a very rare classification composed of olivine crystal in a matrix of iron and nickel. Approximately .2 - .3 % of all meteorites found on earth are pallasite-type with only 87 found to date. The Admire meteorite was found in the late 1800’s in Kansas. The meteorite’s olivine crystals complement the colors of the ironwood and the metal shines brightly.

The shaft is truly outstanding, its species is Mun ebony from Vietnam with great looking grain. Mun ebony is one of the rarest species of ebony which is now classified as critically endangered and no longer traded. Its grain is black and lighter browns with a green hue. This example has remarkable patterns top to bottom.

A heavier weight cane, sturdy and substantial feeling; not among my heaviest, but users of small stature my tire with extended use; could still be used by most anyone. Daily use functional but best considered as a special occasion piece. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
