Mun Ebony and Dinosaur Bone Cane
Mun Ebony and Dinosaur Bone Cane
This is quite an exotic walking cane made using two obscure ebony species with gorgeous grains and fossilized dinosaur bone - something that’s simply fun to hold in your hand and consider. The handle is one of the rarest and most coveted of the ebonies, its Mun ebony from S. E. Asia, now a highly protected and critically endangered species. This species can have incredible landscape effect to its grain with black line figure, as seen here, a handsome example of this special wood. The shaft is Kalimantan ebony from the S. E. Asian Island of Borneo. This rare ebony is dense, heavy and extremely scarce, a unique variety of ebony wood. These ebonies both have a similar coloration with green hues coming out under bright light, while the Kalimantan ebony has a strong chatoyance. The ends of the handle are decorated with matching pieces from the same Dinosaur bone and bright pieces of German silver. This bone has turned into agate after replacement fossilization over million and millions of years. Cane weight is on the heavier side but not among my heaviest canes, its still suitable for most users to enjoy easily, it’ll feel like a quality product made out of substantial hardwood, nothing flimsy here! Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
