Nelia Pistol Grip Cane
Nelia Pistol Grip Cane
Whoa! This pistol grip style cane is overloaded with curl figured grain. The handle is my first using an arid region acacia species called "Nelia" its very obscure and rare, especially with such exquisite and tight 3D curly grain. Nelia wood is very similar to gidgee, which is one of the densest woods in the world, as such its very dense and durable. The end of the handle and the divider are decorated with "Chrysocolla" a lovely stone with blues and greens. The divider is brass and leads into a Tasmanian blackwood shaft, also wildly curl figured. This shaft is extremely chatoyant from top to bottom, even in dimmer light the chatoyant qualities of Tasmanian blackwood are evident. Towards the bottom of the cane is another brass “divider” and a separate piece of Tasmanian blackwood with matching curl figured grain, approximately ¼ of the total shaft length. This is a two part shaft permanently connected with an attractive look. Cane weight is medium, it has a substantial feel of a quality product made out of hardwoods, but not too heavy for most people to enjoy using. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
