Gidgee Pistol Grip Cane

$1,200.00

This is truly an outstanding pistol grip cane - function, beautiful, and unique. The whole thing is made from rare “Gidgee” wood, an arid region acacia species that grows on the fringes of the Australian outback. This small, stunted tree rarely produces long length of clean timber, so its especially nice to be able to offer a gidgee cane shaft, which has a fine, delicate curl figure throughout and a lovely chatoyance. The handle though, wow! It has exhibition grade curl figure that’s deep 3d looking and chatoyant, very rich looking and beautiful. Gidgee wood is among the densest woods in the world, its a profoundly heavy and durable timber, easily in the top 5 densest woods in the world, and often regarded and #2 after lignum wood. In the divider is a subtle but artistically oriented piece of cocobolo rosewood; the real eye-catching details are the mother of pearl pin inlays. As you’d expect from pearl they are very shimmery and beautiful. Most of my pictures wash out the bright pearl next to the dark wood, but it has a nice detail. This piece is a heavy cane, users of small stature my tire with use. It would make a great daily use cane. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.

The last image is of a Gidgee tree in the Outback of Australia.
