Kalimantan Ebony and Ipe Cane
Kalimantan Ebony and Ipe Cane
This is a handsome walking cane made using unique Kalimantan ebony from the S. E. Asian Island of Borneo. This rare ebony is very dense and heavy and extremely scarce, a unique variety of ebony wood. Its appearance is also unique, it has a chatoyant grain with green highlights in the grain. This wood is also called “green ebony”. The divider has layers of green verawood, brass, and two main layers of buffalo horn which is a translucent pale green color. The shaft is Ipe wood, once a commonly imported exotic hardwood from S. America, this species is dense and heavy and very durable. Ipe is now a protected species as of last year. This would make a good daily use cane with its comfortable handle and durable materials, or a fine special occasion piece. Its weight is medium, so it feels like a sturdy cane made out of premium hardwoods, but light enough to be used daily by most anyone. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
