A wonderful, heirloom quality cane, this piece has rare woods with exquisite figure and bright brass metal. the handle is one of the rarest and most expensive woods in the whole world, its Afzelia from S. E. Asia with “Xylay” figure, a type of curl. This figure is unique to Afzelia, no other species make patterns like you'll see on this handle. It’s very 3 Dimensional looking, like curl figure, but the ripples are interconnected in ways that doesn’t even make sense. Regardless, its beautiful to look at and a privilege to offer. The shaft is Honduran Mahogany, one of the genuine “true” mahogany species and it has curl figured grain. This wood is now very rare because it was so extremely popular for furniture for so long that the species became endangered in the wild. This particular piece was imported decades age and has been in storage, a relic of the past. It has a shimmery, chatoyant grain and the light/dark bands in the shaft (its large, broad curls) move and change as the light hits the cane differently. A comfortable and functional cane. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
