Here’s a light colored and uniquely styled cane stand made out of Japanese cedar wood. Japanese cedar wood is a light weight as well as light colored wood, but strong and has a handsome contrast in its grain. This is one of the most important and historic woods in Japanese carpentry, but rarely is it exported. This cane stand has ample spacing for safe storage and display of 7 pieces. The wood is finished using a natural penetrating linseed oil leaving a very soft and natural feel to the wood. There is quality reddish-brown leather in the bottom recesses. The pins on the front and back of the legs are ancient “Jindai Keyaki” wood from Japan, which is a type of elm species. This wood was buried under a volcanic eruption over 2000 years ago and has been preserved underground until recent discovery. Even a cane-maker needs to stretch his muscles and make a piece of furniture now and then!
