This stand is a beautiful expression of old-world craftsmanship and the love of fine wooden furniture. It’s made out of sapele wood from Africa, which has an appearance very similar to mahogany but is a denser and more durable wood; I find it superior to mahogany in many ways. It’s finished using natural linseed oil that penetrates into the wood and leaves a soft and luxurious feel. Its design is a swept-back modern style that holds 9 canes in a very compact amount of space. Each cane is safely separate and secure, but handsomely displayed. The bottom recesses are lined with a dark turquoise colored leather. The stand is assembled using traditional mortise and tenon, and dovetail joinery. Even a cane-maker needs to stretch his muscles and make a piece of furniture now and then!
