Brazilian Rosewood Cane
Brazilian Rosewood Cane
Here’s a classy walking cane featuring probably the most widely known of the rosewoods, Brazilian rosewood, Dalbergia Nigra. This particular rosewood is considered the finest of all woods for making musical instruments, such as guitars and other string instruments. It was so highly desired and wide used that the species nearly became extinct, so back in the 1970’s became one of the first wood species protected and trade banned. Today there are still bits and pieces of Brazilian rosewood around but they are very scarce and extremely expensive, and now at least 50 years old. The shaft is Bolivian rosewood, considerably less rare but beautiful, and this example has nice black line figuring in it and a lot of interesting patterns along its length; It’s best appreciated in person. The divider has a two layers of aluminum, thin ebony, and a center of more Brazilian rosewood. This piece would make a fine daily use cane, its comfortable and functional. It’s weight is average, it has the respectable feel of dense, quality hardwoods and excellent craftsmanship. Total length measures 38” and it can be shortened to fit.
