Cocobolo and Bolivian Rosewood Cane
Cocobolo and Bolivian Rosewood Cane
Here is an attractive yet somewhat more subtle looking cane using 4 different rosewood species. I’m always pleased with an all-wood cane, this dark piece might not catch the eye at first but with close inspection is a very special cane. The handle is a piece of very old, dark Cocobolo rosewood. It has a nicely figured grain and subtle shimmery color and is very dense. The divider has a center of Brazilian rosewood, one of the most coveted rosewood in history in the West, and two layers of Siamese rosewood, one of the most coveted in the East; they are separated by layers of Nigerian ebony. The pins are also Siam rosewood. The shaft is Bolivian rosewood with a fine black line figured grain, also a dense wood.
This would function as a great daily use cane, or special occasion piece. Its weight is fairly heavy, but could still be used and enjoy by most people, might be less practical for users of very small stature. Finished with wax over a highly polished surface. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
