Ironwood and Shedua Cane
Ironwood and Shedua Cane
Even after working with countless woods I can confidently say I have a favorite - Desert Ironwood from the Sonoran desert. The handle of this cane has a figured example of desert ironwood and its a great looking piece full of glowing, chatoyant grain and movement. There are areas of golden color ranging into more amber tones, overall a light and bright piece for desert ironwood. This is not just a beautiful wood its also extremely dense and durable and a great choice for a daily use walking cane. In the divider are layers of brass and a center of desert ironwood burl. The shaft is Shedua wood from Africa, it shares many of the qualities as desert ironwood most notably a very fine chatoyance with a light curl figure. A golden and shimmery cane. Its weight is average/medium, so it’ll feel like a quality cane made out of hardwoods but easily carried and enjoy by most anyone. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
