Kalimantan Ebony Cane
Kalimantan Ebony Cane
This is a handsome walking cane made using unique Kalimantan ebony from the S. E. Asian Island of Borneo. This rare ebony is very dense and heavy and extremely scarce, a unique variety of ebony wood. Its appearance is also unique, it has a chatoyant grain and in bright light it has green highlights in the grain. The divider is a stack of 9 layers of wood, the dark, thin layers are Nigerian Ebony, the two thicker layers are genuine lignum vitae flanked by thin layers of Kalimantan ebony, and the large piece in the middle is figured Sea Ebony, perhaps the rarest and most obscure of the ebony species I use in my work. This would make a good daily use cane with its comfortable handle and durable materials, or a fine special occasion piece. Its weight is on the heavier side but still could be carried by most people. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
