Mahogany Cane
Mahogany Cane
Here’s a warm and handsome cane made out two mahogany woods. The handle is old growth Brazilian Mahogany with high density, very nice material. This mahogany came from a huge, old rainforest giant. The board of wood was over 20” wide and 18’ long without a single knot. I have been working off of the same board for 8 years and have made many canes and two pieces of furniture from it with a lot left! Material like this is a relic of the past, it was imported in the 1980’s. The divider is Afzelia with Xylay figure from S. E. Asia with a nice detailed grain and the shaft is ribbon figured African Mahogany. all of these woods have a nice shimmery look. This is a great daily use cane with a Danish oil finish that is smooth and lustrous. Total length measures 38” and cane be shortened to fit.
