Myall and Granadillo Cane
Myall and Granadillo Cane
Here is a dark, traditional cane with rich, warm chatoyant woods. The handle is western Myall wood from arid Australia; this is a rare and obscure acacia species from a small, slow growing, shrubby tree that produces wood just large enough for my canes handles. It was harvested by hand by a “wood hunter” who salvage harvests from dead trees. Last image is of a Myall tree in it natural range. This wood is worth the special effort! Its grain is beautiful and it’s extremely dense and durable. This particular piece has a unique grain phenomenon called “bark pocket" figure, which looks a lot like burl but its not the same thing. The shaft of this cane is Granadillo wood from Central America. Also a dense and durable wood with similar grain qualities. This wood is not nearly as rare but its a highly regarded exotic wood and became a very popular substitute for rosewoods when they became unavailable in the marketplace. Suitable for most anyone to use and enjoy daily, its weight is medium so it feels like a substantial, high quality piece. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
