Rosewood and Bubinga Cane
Rosewood and Bubinga Cane
Here’s an outstanding rosewood cane full of rich colors and intricate grain patterns. The handle is an examples of a rare rosewood species from S. E. Asia; it’s obscure, particularly in the West, its most common name is its Latin Scientific name: Dalbergia Oliveri, or “Oliveri” for short. It has rich, warm colors, high density, and a chatoyant grain that catches and reflects light beautifully. Bubinga (shaft) is the same way, warm, colorful, dense, and shimmery. Bubinga is not biologically a rosewood species, but its regarded as one by woodworkers because its properties and appearance are nicer than even some of the genuine rosewood species. All together this is an heirloom quality piece of functional artwork. Cane has a substantial feel to it, but not chunky and unrefined. Could be used daily by most any user. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
