Tasmanian Blackwood Cane

$500.00

This heirloom quality cane has some remarkable grain, wow! The handle is highly figured Tasmanian blackwood that was salvage harvested. The grain in the handle is quilted with a deep 3D look, and the ripples are tightly spaced together. Tasmanian blackwood is very chatoyant and shimmery wood with grain that catches and moves with light, a feature that's accentuated by dynamic figure like quilting. This is beautiful wood and even better in person than pictures suggest. The shaft is also blackwood with straight grain, no figure but still has a nice shimmery quality. Now you may be wondering why this wood is called “blackwood”. That’s a good question and I don’t even know! Its actually a bright and colorful wood. The lighter wood is the tree’s sapwood, the darker is heartwood, this is explained in my glossary. A medium weight cane, suitable for most anyone and daily use appropriate. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
