Tulipwood Rosewood and Holly Cane

$700.00

A simply gorgeous cane… featuring two unique woods. The handle is Brazilian Dalbergia Decipularis, a rosewood species most commonly known as “tulipwood” but not to be confused with tulip poplar wood. Tulipwood is incredible for its variety and vibrancy of natural colors ranging from yellows, peachy tones, to pinks and deep reds. Its probably the most vibrantly colored of all the rosewood species, perhaps only tied with Siam rosewood, but the two are quite different from each other. Tulipwood is extremely rare, one of the rarest rosewoods. Only small pieces can ever be found and are quite old.

The shaft is just an unique as the tulipwood, but in the opposite respect for its complete lack of color. Its holly wood, the whitest wood in the world. Holly is a small, shrubby tree mostly and good lumber is hardly ever available. Also, the tree must be cut in winter while it is dormant and the wood immediately vacuum kiln dried otherwise it dries with a yellow or grey color that is quite unattractive. Good, clean, white holly wood is so scarce it commands prices equivalent to rare exotic woods.

This would make a good daily use cane, its has a substantial feel being made of hardwoods but its weight is medium and easily carried by most anyone. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
